It’s kind of weird that I wrote a nearly identical post in October last year. Maybe it’s Providence.

The reasons are not the same though, so that’s something.

You , my regular readers, know how much I love blogging. Hey, I push people to blog every day, don’t you know? Β Yes, I even wrote a post on how to survive a blogging marathon.

So, this time it’s because I want to do two things:

  1. Work on my book and therefore plunge head first into NaNoWriMo with a vengeance. The only way I will get that done is if I step away from the magnet that is blogging- with the draw that it has over me.
  2. Trying to re-assess why I blog. Oh don’t worry, I go through this phase once every few months. But while earlier it used to stem out of despair, exhaustion and frustration, now it comes from a place of peace. I really want to examine the motives behind why I write, share, visit other bloggers and move forward. Hopefully, this break will help strengthen that enquiry deep within.

This thing called blogging is really beautiful, you know? It has helped me grow, pinpoint the reason I write, connect with so many people, made me fall in love with social media, fall out of love and come back to a sense of balanceΒ where I now really understand why I am on social media at all. It has grounded me in ways that I cannot explain- made me value writers, bloggers, the creative process, the rants and raves on twitter or even the explosive posts on Facebook.

So, see you all in December. Wish me luck as I embark on this writing adventure in November and (hopefully) emerge successful at the end.

Feel free to browse my earlier posts (flash fiction, poetry, non fiction) in the meantime and read whatever catches your fancy. Leave a comment so I know you’ve been here and I will get back to you for sure!

Happy Blogging and Reading, folks πŸ™‚

  3. I am in a similar place, not necessarily by choice. School work is brutal at the moment. Good luck in accomplishing the book, and hope to see you on the flip side. πŸ™‚

  4. Good luck writing that book! You are an exceptional writer and I know whatever you come up with will be great. I constantly find myself reassessing why I write, and why I would even want to continue and it seems my desire to write has waned. It seems like a losing battle.

  5. All the best Shailaja..!! May your book see the light of the day real soon!!
And please please please.. can you tell me the secret of your writing? how well versed your sentences are.. the words, as I read them, seems like they come so easily.. why do I never get the correct word to express what I want, and realize it when I read your posts..!! and your writing style looks so assertive.. making the correct point with any disruptions! How I wish I knew this art! If there is any possible way to learn this, will you teach me?

  6. When I just got back! Why? Why would you! Sigh… This is just so unfair
