Tentacles snaking out,
Sensing the fear I exude,
Wrap around my shattered soul and
Cajole my tentative steps.
Deliberately.
I can almost see its face.
It’s frightening.
It’s right there.
If I can just turn right around, I will embrace it:
Change.
Oh? I thought I commented on this already! Change can certainly be like that at times, can’t it? 😉 You have certainly captured its essence well! 🙂 <3
I like how the metaphor shows that change is inescapable, with it’s tentacles grabbing us whether we like it or not.
Thanks Cynk! Yes, that’s the inevitability of change, I suppose.
Started off reminding me of Dementors :O
Change, ah, my bittersweet companion. When I didn’t want Her, she wreaked havoc in my life. When I do want to embrace Her with my whole heart, she is playing hide and seek with me. Elusive Change.
🙂
True isn’t it? We are always most unprepared for change and she eludes us when we need her the most. Ah, the human dilemma 🙂
Change as tentacled serpent, yes! It squirts ink sometimes too when that change disorients you from your normal routine.
Yup, change IS as scary as a tentacled beast.
Every eighth limb of it. Thanks Cheney!
Maybe the transition is tough for the fear of the unseen. Nice post.
Always the uncertainty that does us in. It may not be as scary as what we anticipate, most of the time. Thank you for your kind comment.
Oh this is brilliant imagery Shailaja! That awful thing called change!!! I personally dread change. This captured that dread perfectly. Exquisite piece!! ♥
Thank you so much, Kathy! <3
Nice one! Embracing change can be scary but exhilarating!!
Exactly! It’s the attitude that counts. Thanks Roshni 🙂
Reminds me of the serenity prayer. Good one
Thanks Ruby 🙂
Change is spice of our life. 🙂
Spice is right 😀
Oh yes this I can identify with. Change can be terrifying.
Isn’t it? Sigh.. but we need to be ready.
Love this!
Thanks Anu! 🙂
We have to embrace to the changing scenario.
We do, indeed Kalpana 🙂
Change is the only thing constant in life!!! so, we might as well take it up 🙂
Nice one!!
Very true 🙂
Ah, yes, change is frightening but also welcome sometimes. Nicely done, Shailaja!
Yes, it’s the dichotomy that gets me sometimes 🙂 Thanks Uma.
The quicker we embrace change, the better it is. Nice one, Shailaja
Some days take time, Sid. But yes, it’s like ripping off the band-aid.
