“Leather or cloth?”

Can’t I go for something else?

“No. You’re too young. You need to ease into this.”

But I really think I’d be better off with wood!

“Wood? Are you serious? At your age? Don’t make me laugh.”

I’ll have you know I am small for my age.ย

“Look, I don’t really care. Leather or cloth. Choose!”

Throwing a glance that should have made the adult shrivel but had no effect whatsoever, Gabriel grumbled and went back to his friends.

Well? they asked excitedly.

No use! I got leather or cloth. I chose leather, because no self-respecting book worm will start with cloth.ย Still, I suppose it’s better than paper.

The other borer worms nodded their heads in agreement.

  1. Still going strong. Flash fiction is certainly one of your many fortes. Enjoyed the little worm-chat ๐Ÿ˜€

  2. This was such a surprise and so wonderfully narrated. I am imagining those conspiring worms now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You are so talented with microfiction, Shailaja. I have read very few who do it so well.

  3. Ha ha! That is so cute. Like always you left me wondering what this is about until I reached the end. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Fantastic one, Shailaja.
