“Leather or cloth?”

Can’t I go for something else?

“No. You’re too young. You need to ease into this.”

But I really think I’d be better off with wood!

“Wood? Are you serious? At your age? Don’t make me laugh.”

I’ll have you know I am small for my age.ย

“Look, I don’t really care. Leather or cloth. Choose!”

Throwing a glance that should have made the adult shrivel but had no effect whatsoever, Gabriel grumbled and went back to his friends.

Well? they asked excitedly.

No use! I got leather or cloth. I chose leather, because no self-respecting book worm will start with cloth.ย Still, I suppose it’s better than paper.

The other borer worms nodded their heads in agreement.

  1. This was such a surprise and so wonderfully narrated. I am imagining those conspiring worms now. ๐Ÿ˜‰

You are so talented with microfiction, Shailaja. I have read very few who do it so well.

  2. Ha ha! That is so cute. Like always you left me wondering what this is about until I reached the end. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Fantastic one, Shailaja.
