So, do you believe that there is such a thing as being toxic?

Do you mean poisonous or harmful?

I suppose it could mean both.

Darren smiled and put his book away, drawing Della into his arms.

“If you are referring to people, then I would say ‘No’. Simply because, my experience with folks has told me that we have no idea what goes on in their lives, why they behaved the way they did or even if they realised what they were doing.”

How can YOU, of all people, believe that? asked Della, her eyes widening in absolute surprise.

With a grin, Darren waved his crutches in the air, looked down at the stumps where his legs used to be and replied in a tone that could rival the silkiest birdsong, “Because, my dear, it is only when I forgive, that my heart can heal.”

  1. Ah okay, so this is why the question the other day. I am a huge believer in the power of forgiveness. There really is truth in the saying that forgiveness is liberating. Last year, my first post was about forgiveness. 🙂

  2. So true! We never know what goes on in people’s minds….what they go through..and why they behave the way they do.
Liked the end a lot. I had the feeling something was going to shock me!
