Verdant shades washed over her senses, in waves of glorious green. Her nostrils filled up with the warm smell of wet earth as her bare feet sank into the sensuous feel of softly mown grass.
Go on, now. Take your time.
Jaya turned her head, listening with glee to the voice behind her. Vedant smiled and picked up the first thing that he could lay his hands on.
Run Jaya! He flung it as far as he could.
She took off in hot pursuit, eyeing the twig with tenacity, her ears flapping, tongue panting. She was home again. With him.

It does feel like home, doesn’t it?
a cute story for the prompt, Shailaja..and Jaya is an usual name for a dog 🙂
I love it! I was right there in the moment feeling Jaya’s joy. Dogs are so great how they enjoy everything so much and feel it with all their senses. Great post in so few words. You are so good at conveying a complete story in the short word count.

The bond with the pet is nicely drawn…It was on a home run 🙂
Thank you Jayanta 🙂
Oh, I love this. I especially like how you started with “Verdant shades…” and how closely it resembles “Vedant.” All this made me miss my puppy dog, Finnegan, too. Bittersweet and lovely.
Ah, I am so glad you caught that 😉 Actually, Vedant is an Indian name, associated with the Hindu scriptures. I just thought it blended so well with the idea of Verdant that I left it in there 🙂
I could imagine me playing with my Sparky, loved it.
