{Before reading today’s post, hop over and read
part 1 of the story ‘C for Code‘, if you haven’t already}
~~~
Sylvia’s face crumpled into tears at the sight of Dave’s still body on the floor and she turned away, unable to bear the redness of the blood before her.
That’s when she saw it. On the kitchen counter. A letter in Dave’s hand.
Hands shaking, she picked it up and read:
Darling Sylvia,
It was time to show you how much you meant to me. Your love for me has been so overwhelming and pure that I could not go on. Not like this. I needed to declare my love in the only way possible: by taking my life. For that is how much I love you.
I need you to know that I would give my life for you. In a heartbeat, without forethought, without a second’s pause. Most people are content to live in their cocoon of existence, being loved. But without reciprocation, what use is this love? So, my dearest, here I lie, as a token of my code. Red in love.Β
For you.
Signed in red,
Dave
Tears streaming now, she sobbed as she read the footnote:
P.S. Turn around
Sylvia turned and screamed as Dave stood there, drenched in what was now clearly red paint, holding up a bouquet of red roses and a card that said, ‘ Happy Valentine’sΒ Day!’
Ohh!!! I would have killed him for sure if I was in her place π
Kinda twisted mind that guy has. Good one.
Woohoo! I love surprises. But ones like these, NO!
You are mean! π
OMG!! You scared me!! Horrible surprise!
I would slap him and leave. I hope my husband never scares me like that. What a shocker. I am glad he was okay though.
… sylvia took the knife and jabbed him for scaring her life that π
Gosh!! that some surprise π Glad that it ended happily π
That was a very nasty surprise! My god, thankfully it was just a prank.
I truly hope he is all right π like, is he? π Superbly twisted!
God!! She must have got a shock of her life!
A great twist to the story! π
Ha! I sure did NOT see that coming!! Well done, Shailaja π Here I thought Dave was mentally ill but instead, he’s devious and clever. Sylvia must be very angry now – I would be!
Uff! Really! Not a good thing to do on Valentine’s Day! Not a good thing to do on any day! Had it been me instead of Sylvia….
She should have fainted in front of Dave and it would have served him right for pulling such an hideous prank! But wow!!
That was one creepy wish!
I almost quit reading but glad I finished. Great post!
This reminds me of the guy who proposed to his girlfriend after creating this whole scenario where he was declared dead. I’d kill a boyfriend/partner who did that.
I Would’ve died before reading the footnote:) lovely twist in the end.
The girl must have died of fright!
I would have died then and there! God what a way to give a surprise! :O
OMG! LOL
I so hoped, but thought how was it possible? π
What a horrible prank, it’s more April fools than Valentine’s Day.
Oh no! This was too bad a surprise! I would have murdered my boyfriend if he were to try a stunt like this.. And shooed him out of my room for besmirching it with his fake sacrifice of blood!
I think that is a weird and twisted (in-a-bad) way to demonstrate love. I think he has a sick and cruel sense of humour. I think she should run away AND stay (far) away from him, for good!
Oh, that was shocking surprise. I wonder how Sylvia took the surprise. If I was her, my husband would be murdered in reality π But yes, I think that surprise might have made Sylvia realize how much she loved her husband. But still horrible prank to play on V day π
Glad it was Sylvia and not me, I would have killed the guy for this kind of a surprise!
Very mean and least romantic of Dave to do what he did! π
That was so mean of him !!! But I loved the way it ended. I surely would have given an earful if I was in Sylvia’s place but then the “thoughtful” gesture would melt me away. π
Omg! I was shocked in the beginning but finally I was happy with the end π
A bit like Romeo and Juliet but with a happy ending. Me likes. PS: Unless you decide to kill Sylvia in one of your future posts.
Love your unique letters for each post! I hope you are enjoying A to Z,
Yvonne
Yes indeed. I’m enjoying it a great deal! Thanks Yvonne π
Spooky!! That guy has a twisted sense of humor π I wonder if Sylvia survived π
eerie surprises !
Err no one better try this on me, or they might really get to know what dying feels like :P. Good turnaround to the Part I Shailaja :).
Oh, David, how could you do that to poor Sylvia, you cruel lad? Quite shocking! What a twist that was!
Gosh, Shailaja your twists are getting spookier and most unpredictable by the day! Though, I’m glad you gave a happy ending to this bloody story π
Did NOT see that coming!! What a twist!
Oh this was a mean joke.
Are u surprised I am here so soon? π Speaking of surprises, this guy’s idea of a valentine surprise is twisted. Did she survive? π
..and Sylvia fainted π
Well, I had a sneaky feeling this would end like this π π Wonder how Sylvia would’ve taken the surprise π
