All of us have that special piece of our lives, don’t we? It’s anything or any moment that makes us feel right at home. It’s a sense of comfort that cannot really be explained, but just feels right, in your bones, where it matters.

For me, that is what this blog does. My second blog baby, my darling, my silent supporter who gives me the space to just be me.

A few months ago, I was on the verge of shutting this blog down, not because I wasn’t writing regularly, but because I was coming close to the end of my hosting plan. At some level, I didn’t think it made sense to invest in keeping this blog going when I wasn’t actively monetizing it.

Let’s face it: Blogging costs money.

But when I mentioned this tentatively in a post on the blog, I was actively discouraged from closing down this space! Everyone who came by insisted that I’d have to find another way but shutting down the blog was out of the question.

A Solution

It was last week, when I was talking to my old hosting provider, and seriously working out the budget for the blog that I stumbled upon an alternative. That was ChemiCloud. A close friend, Shalini, recommended it and I went over and had a quick chat with their support team.

*Spoiler Alert: They are FABULOUS!

Now, let me be clear. I have had this exact chat conversation with at least 5 other service providers in this space and none of them gave me the confidence, assurance AND pricing that Chemicloud gave.

To be doubly certain, I went ahead and checked out reviews of ChemiCloud online and was impressed by the approval rating. I swear, just google ‘Chemi Cloud reviews’ and read any of the links there.

Here’s what happened next. I paid for their 3-year plan at 7 PM, sent over a migration request by 7.15 PM and received an e-mail from them at 8 PM that my entire site migration was done! And with ZERO downtime too. πŸ™‚

So, if you’re looking for a good alternative to Bluehost (Which I still recommend if you have a blog that’s making money), I highly advise going with ChemiCloud.

New Clothes

Okay, you know the power of positive affirmation? Of thinking that the right things will happen at the right time and actively working on manifesting them?

Well, I do and it’s strange how the universe works.

The other thing that happened here with my blog is the fact that I’d never actively worked on creating a logo for it. I always knew I wanted one but balked at the idea of it for, I don’t know, no reason whatsoever.

Yeah, I am weird like that.

So, anyway, once I made the shift to Chemicloud, I found a new urge to get back to active blogging here. At the same time, I wanted to breathe new life back into the blog with a new logo.

At the exact time as the site migration, this logo design company, DesignEvo, reached out, asking if I would do a review for them! Kismet? I think so!

You’ve already seen the logo by now:

So I sat down to create this and once I saw that logo take shape before my eyes, it was as if I had come full circle back to the beginning of this blog: Why I chose to write in this space.

The Universe listens

About 10 days ago, I received a gift from a dear blogging friend, Natasha Sinha. It was a set of two books. One of them ‘Ikigai’ has taken such a stronghold of residence in my heart that it is impossible to budge it from there.

Ever since I started reading the book, my being is suffused with a sense of calm. Things that ordinarily stress me out don’t affect me anymore. Angst at trivial things now fades away like fog on a windshield when hot air is blown on it.

I do believe that the universe was listening when it sent both the hosting service and the logo maker my way. Don’t ask me how I know. I just do. I feel it in thatΒ  pocket of my being that simply cannot be explained.

Somewhere deep inside, I heard this voice telling meΒ  the thing I’d been wondering, questioning and doubting, ‘Is this what you want?’

And then the other voice responding firmly, quietly, gently, ‘This is exactly what you’ve been looking for. This is that sense of comfort you’ve wanted. It’s that piece of home that’s always a part of you. This is where you are meant to be.’

As I type out this post, the softest melodies are playing on my home sound system, filling the room with their cadence and my heart with a calm that is incredibly soothing. I know that the calm is accentuated by this wonderful, kind space on the internet that I get to call my own.

Thank you to each of you who makes this blogging journey worthwhile.

  1. Oh yes, the universe listens. There’s power in our thoughts and in our longings. I am glad everything worked out for you. I can understand that sense of peace and fulfillment that one feels when things fall into place. I am with bluehost but still finding a cheaper host for my travel blog. Will check out Chemi cloud. They sound like a chemical company though πŸ˜…

  2. I’d be the first to endorse that the Universe is always listening. This may be the umpteenth time I mention this and it certainly wont be the last: my Grandma convinced me when I was little, that there is always an angel sitting on my shoulder, listening to my every thought. So, she advised, why not think nice ones, happy ones and wish for good things–for myself as well as others? Over the years, I’ve had proof of how wonderfully this works.

My Mom further enhanced this theory by teaching me I should pray for good things to happen to all the people who are hurtful and do mean things. Why? Because they’ll be so busy being happy they’ll have no time to do any damage. I love the idea.

Ikigai is one of my favorite books and I wrote about the concept a while ago.

Happy you’re nurturing this blog and have given it a sweet logo.

    Stay blessed!

  3. Happy to hear about the host. I will surely reach out if I look to change mine. The logo also looks cute. Have noted it from your other post. 😊 Glad that you are feeling at peace. And lovely about the book at well. I am adding it to my TBR.

  4. Love the new logo and still really glad you haven’t shut this space down. I’m still with Bluehost for a blog that doesn’t make money. For now, I’m going with it. I am curious about the book you mention because interestingly enough, a few weeks before you posted the book on social media, I came across the term in an article as I have been researching purpose and meaning in life {yes, I have been struggling with an existential crisis of sorts for the past few months}. I feel like I need to read it now. Can I add though I am a bit of a sceptic when it comes to the stuff about the universe providing etc etc. Maybe I need to be a bit more open… πŸ˜›

    1. Thanks Sanch! I know right? I’m glad I decided to keep this blog alive. πŸ™‚ Oh the book is lovely! It does touch a bit upon western psychology and the difference in approach that Ikigai advocates. You’d find it interesting. And hey, I hear you about the skepticism. The only reason I can say it now is because after a really rotten 2017, my outlook changed and I was ready for anything. Maybe I channelized some good juju or something. 😁
