Something to share- #Friday #Fictioneers

Margie stood there with a set expression as Diane threw open the door and hugged her.

“So glad to see you, darling!”

“Mom, I have something to tell you.”

“Me too!” Diane whispered conspiratorially.

She propelled Margie up the stairs to her old bedroom.

‘Ta-da!Surprise!’

Margie blinked as the light glinted off the metallic drum set in the centre of the room.

“Dad turned it into his band room, since you won’t need it anymore. Cool, right?”

Margie swallowed the lump in her throat and said, ‘ Darn cool!’

Inside her handbag lay the divorce notice from her husband of five years.

That Object- #Friday #Fictioneers

Riya caught them just as they were about to pick it up.

“Heena! Ritu! Don’t touch that. God knows where it’s been!”

The two of them looked guiltily at their mother and backed away slowly from the tantalising object which lay at their feet.

“But, Ma, what is it? A lollipop, maybe?”

Riya gave them a shake and admonished them severely with, “You know better than to go near strange items. How many times have I warned you? What have I said?”

With a bored yawn, Heena and Ritu preened their feathers and chanted, Never go near the human habitat.

Coloured Wine- #Friday #Fictioneers

That orange one? It looks so pretty! Kind of like the sun on a really happy day, eh?

Ooh! And look , there’s a yellow one. Wait, is it green? I can never tell the difference. Something to do with hues, maybe?

I don’t know, Sally! Will you stop being so cheerful? It’s driving me nuts!

Looking over at Arthur’s ashen face, Sally beamed her million-dollar smile.

Aww, you sour puss. Cheer up. It will all be over soon. I think it’s really cool that the doctor allowed us to crash his wine-tasting, just so you could get your rabies shot.

Disclaimer: I don’t, for a minute, subscribe to the idea that rabies shots or any shots are fun. I’ve just been in a morbid mood all week and this was my outlet. That, plus, to my mind, Sally is the type who’ll try her best to look at the sunny side of any situation.
