Do you know what this is?
What? said Erica, wide-eyed.
It’s the source of all life. It’s the vital spring of existence. Without it, you and I wouldn’t exist. It’s part of the earth and it’s a part of our being. Mother Earth shudders every time one of these is felled. The oceans weep each time a remnant creeps into their waters. The fauna wail as they lose sight of their beloved homes and watch them being swept away.
She watched me as my passionate monologue came to an end.
Shrugging her shoulders, she remarked, It’s just a tree, Dad.

You expressed thousand emotions in a moving way:)
Oh, I had to laugh of the last comment… Talk about “dragging it down to earth” – very nice read:-) I love how trees are used in India btw – so often for worshiping:-) very moving to see how everything has LIFE:-)
the ending left me sad, because that’s the kind of attitude people have now about our earth, you nailed it. Brilliant.
You are so generous with your compliments. Keep them coming. I am not complaining 😀

Well, I am so glad to see you here <3 Hope you'll keep visiting 🙂
How easliy the life giver , life saver becomes the dead log ! And how easily the child says, ” dad, it’s just a tree”…. how trivial things become over time 🙁
Beautifully expressed, Shailaja 🙂

How transient is everything, right, Sreeja? Hope we realise it before it’s too late.
Nice take on the prompt Shailaja… Hope she understands how priceless the tree truly is.
With age, I certainly hope she does. Thanks for reading, Athira <3

So true, Pheno 🙁
As long as there are wise parents to guide their kids, I’m sure they will soon understand the significance of preserving nature.
Lovely take on the prompt Shailaja 🙂
The parents must do this, Vinodini. It’s the only way . Thank you 🙂
Hope someday she will understand – it’s not just a tree.
Nicely expressed, Shailaja
She is young, Beloo. With time, the wisdom will come 🙂
